Father of four, Phil Cragg, from Welton, has set off on an extraordinary adventure to climb Mount Kilimanjaro - nine months after getting the all clear for bowel cancer.
The trek up Africa's 22,000ft mountain is a personal challenge to Phil (49), as well as in aid of the national charity Beating Bowel Cancer and Lincoln cancer charity Candles.
"In 2005 I was diagnosed with bowel cancer. At 48 and with four young children it came as a considerable shock. After major surgery and a lengthy period of chemotherapy I am now ready to say thankyou to all those who helped me with my treatment by climbing the highest mountain in Africa," Phil says in his personal message at JustGiving.
"I feel like I've faced one of the biggest challenges of my life," he said. "Now it's time to face the second, climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, this time by choice."
Phil aims to raise £10,000 for cancer charities, and as he points out, when you donate, "if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you."
